We aim to provide information about research activities being carried out at the Instituto de Astronomía de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México together with information that is useful to people using the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional (OAN), up on lovely Sierra San Pedro Martir. The Instituto de Astronomía has three research sites: in Mexico City , in the city of Ensenada in the state of Baja California and in the city of Morelia in the state of Michoacán; it also has the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional en San Pedro Mártir.
The observatory is located at West 115° 27´8 longitude, North 31° 02´6 latitude at an altitude of 2830 meters on the edge of the main escarpment on the Baja Peninsula. The observatopment on the Baja Peninsula. The observatory headquarters and workshops are located on the Pacific Coast in Ensenada.
